Our Commitment to Sustainability

The Graduate Environmental Program plays a critical role in educating students for a more sustainable world. A number of key university documents such as the Environmental Policy, the Sustainability Forum Terms of Reference and the Graduate Attributes can be found on the Sustainable Campus website. The University also maintains external commitments through the Talloires Declaration, Universities Australia, and Universitas 21.

The Office for Environmental Programs (OEP) is committed to meeting The University of Melbourne's sustainability targets of reduced energy use, lower carbon emissions from travel and energy and reduced waste and water use.

OEP staff are dedicated to sustainability, both in the workplace and at home. Working with Property and Campus Services, OEP have sought to ensure our office space reflects our values, by using low impact materials and choosing low energy appliances. On a day to day basis, we try to make sure our work practices promote the health of our environment, staff and student community. We enjoy sharing ideas on how we can live in a more sustainable way – whether through our choices about food, energy and transport, or through local and global and action.
